The Misty Thicket Story
Deep in an old English forest lives a curious family. The sounds of children playing blend with the steady thrum of sewing machines. For years they have dwelt here, creating beautiful clothing for a lucky few. On the wall of the home is set an old faded picture of an elderly Englishwoman with her sewing machine. She learned the Art of sewing from her mother, and she from hers, and again back to a time immemorial. It is this tradition you will find proudly performed deep within the wooded enclaves of the Misty Thicket...
Well Met and welcome to the Misty Thicket! Specializing in handmade European period clothing for over 10 years, on this online forum mistythicket.com we offer the best in high-quality and unique Renaissance, Medieval, and Celtic garb.
The Misty Thicket Team
Telena Ruhl
Telena was inspired at a young age by her English grandmother "Nana" who was a formally trained master seamstress in London. And she, in turn, now has over 30 years experience as a seamstress. She is a dual-citizen of England and thoroughly enjoys traveling around the US. Through her website, auctions (limited selection), and custom orders, she and her husband Parrish are dedicated to producing the finest handmade period clothing available.
Parrish Ruhl
Parrish's background is in cultural anthropology and humanities. He is a student of European and Celtic history, modern film, and the ancient Greco-Roman world. He began grading and cutting costumes with Telena in 2002 and now assembles all the orders for Telena's finishing work. Parrish is ready to answer any questions about garment sizing, alterations and special requests. As the site webmaster, he welcomes your questions and feedback on the website.
Scott Castle
Scott is a career Army mechanic, model, and creative force of nature for Misty Thicket Clothing. In addition to his enthusiastic field testing of our products, he has contributed tremendous moral support to our team and creative energy toward the development of our costumes. Scott currently resides "somewhere" in Texas, providing us with 'eyes-on-the-ground' in one of the largest re-enactment epicenters in the world.
Lily
Until her untimely death in 2014, Lily was a tireless contributor to the re-enactment community. She founded her own business "Lily's Steampunk Emporium", was a member of the acting guild, directed several films, was a first degree black-belt and co-founded Pirate Con in the Michigan area. She had a masters in education (English) and enjoyed great success and renown at the helm of her local high school theatre department. Her creative collaborations and boundless enthusiasm for our company will be sorely missed.
